Tonight I was told that love was an overwhelming object that swallowed you whole and regurgitated you in a pile of coolness, and I guess that must be the case.

Went to see Kill The Young/The New Thoughts/The Upper Room last night in Truro; I ended up going on my own cos everyone else was busy/working/being fucking lame. 

Serves all of you right then that it absolutely rocked.

The New Thoughts, who supported Tom Vek sometime last year, were the token local band, and were surprisingly good.  Played 6 short and sweet songs then were ushered off.

Kill The Young were up next and kicked ass.  The lead singer’s voice sounds a bit fake/american-ised on their recorded stuff, but sounds a hell of a lot better live.  Again it was a shame that their set list was cut short to just 7 songs. Standout tracks were Origin of Illness and Addiction (even if it does seem to be slightly influenced by Muse’s Muscle Museum in places).

And then The Upper Room.  It took under 20 minutes for the first two bands to swap places and instruments.  An hour after Kill The Young had left the stage, there was still no sign of TUR coming on, and I had to go.  I was tempted to stay and get a taxi home but it would have been an extra £50 at least.

Next one’s on the 27th, with the Sunshine Underground

The sun is out. It's nearly warm.

The trails are dry and fast.  And free from ramblers.

My bike fucking rocks.  Even if it does need some new forks.

I've drunk a lot of coffee.  And am feeling vaguely hyper.

I'm snowed under with work.  I love my job.

I'm a happy boy.  And the world is a happy place.

Oh and congrats to my mate Dominguez, currently ranked number 1 in the country… just as long as you remember that I can still kick your ass up the hills!
